A rare shape, constructed from sheet iron or tin this cylindrical lantern has three glazed windows, one on a clasp-fastening hinged door, conical hood with ventilation holes and carrying loop. The piece is in virtually unrestored condition (there appears to be some evidence of an early repair to the hinges of the opening door) with candle holder intact, seemingly its original glass, original black paint and, consequently, minimal corrosion to the metal. An exceptional example of period rustic lighting.
Dimensions (W & H): 15x30cm
