Antique Metal Deed Box Named Arthur Ditchfield

A very striking black Victorian deed box with red hand painted decoration to the lid and the makers of the box to the interior of the lid. The painter and printmaker Arthur Ditchfield (1842-1888) studied at Leigh's School of Art in London and later at the Royal Academy Schools. Exhibiting between 1864 and 1886 at the Royal Academy, the Royal Institute and elsewhere, Ditchfield specialised in topographical views, making etchings of English towns, and travelling to France, Spain, Italy, Egypt and North Africa. An unusual, decorative and most useful storage solution.

Dimensions (L, W & H): 35x26x20 cm
