An enchanting, lightweight, probable ceremonial example circa late 18th or early 19th century. It was probably not much, if at all, used in anger to subdue any scoundrels! Much of the original gold, green and maroon paint has been lost through usage, but what remains combines with the beautifully patinated oak of the piece to great effect. A painted gold heraldic fleur-de-lis is still evident at the tip. The leather handle is a later replacement. A really, atmospheric decorative piece.

Dimensions (L, D): 39x4.5 (diameter at widest point) cm

Ref: T12
